Accounting Manager, Technical Accounting

Lead technical accounting, controls, and AI-enabled process improvements at Jobber, a small-business service software company. Support scalable Finance operations across Canadian hub cities.

Description

  • Lead accounting projects that strengthen the Finance function
  • Advise on complex transactions, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), stock compensation (ASC 718), business combinations, and capitalized software
  • Map risks to controls, document processes, and identify control gaps
  • Use month-end and year-end close knowledge to map controls and redesign processes
  • Partner with Finance and other departments on cross-functional projects
  • Provide guidance on Finance-owned tools
  • Redesign accounting workflows with company-approved AI and automation tools
  • Apply professional judgment and human review to AI and automation outputs

Requirements

  • Hold a CPA designation
  • Have strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • SEC reporting experience is strongly preferred
  • Bring significant accounting experience, including time in public practice
  • Have a track record of technical accounting research and documenting processes and controls
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills
  • Use accurate, timely analysis to make sound decisions
  • Be able to scope ambiguous projects, sequence the work, and independently drive it to completion
  • Be adaptable and open to coaching
  • Collaborate broadly and champion best practices
  • SaaS company experience is an asset
  • Previous IPO, S-1/F-1, or public company experience is a plus
  • Experience with NetSuite is a plus
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Successfully complete a background check, including identity verification
  • Be able to attend the office at least one day per week according to the department schedule
