- Own the design, implementation, and administration of data architectures and database platforms across GCP and Azure
- Partner with software, systems, DevOps, business, analytics, software, and data science teams
- Shape key data platform architecture while balancing operational excellence, security, reliability, performance, and cost
- Help define technology roadmaps and architectural enhancements for InfoSec, data platforms, and disaster recovery and business continuity
- Migrate and transform data stores for strategic initiatives
- Support daily data-system operations and information-security programs
- Establish, maintain, and apply data engineering processes and best practices
- Tune, maintain, and optimize production database environments
- Develop and operate a self-healing database platform with AI-based observability and monitoring tools
- Advance modernization and centralization of the database environment
- Provide database operations support for SQL Server and PostgreSQL, including SQL scripting, database objects, and troubleshooting
- Administer, patch, upgrade, and monitor PostgreSQL and SQL Server databases across GCP and Azure
- Set up and manage backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery capabilities
- Design, administer, and monitor BigQuery warehouse schemas and queries, including cost and slot usage
- Develop Infrastructure as Code with Terraform
- Support CI/CD processes for database changes, ADF pipelines, and infrastructure deployments
Requirements
- Preferred: bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience
- At least 8 years of data engineering and/or database administration experience with hands-on ownership of production database platforms
- Proficiency in designing data structures and applying technical design principles
- Hands-on experience with BigQuery, Compute Engine, and Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL and SQL Server in GCP
- Hands-on experience with Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure SQL Database, and/or SQL Server on Azure VMs
- Experience with high availability, disaster recovery, backup and restore, and performance tuning
- Working knowledge of version control and CI/CD tools, including Git, Azure DevOps, and Cloud Build
- Working knowledge of Azure Data Factory, SSIS/SSRS in Azure, and Dataflow/Dataproc in GCP
- Effective communication with stakeholders and partners
- Preferred experience with Agile or comparable delivery methods
- Experience supporting AI/ML platforms and integrating AI-powered data tools
- Required Unix scripting experience
- Demonstrated experience working with US-based business teams
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
- Availability to work during core US business hours with Eastern Standard Time overlap
- Eight working hours excluding breaks, including four core US hours from 7:30pm–11:30pm IST and four flexible hours
- A quiet, dedicated workspace and reliable internet connection with a minimum speed of 50 Mbps
