Description

  • Administer MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB clusters across multiple nodes, and maintain their documentation.
  • Configure HAProxy for load balancing, failover, and high availability across environments.
  • Troubleshoot PL/SQL, stored procedures, and Oracle database packages.
  • Diagnose and resolve database issues in real time.
  • Advise Division management on integrating IT programs.
  • Lead database performance monitoring and system health architecture.
  • Set database architecture standards and develop high-availability and disaster-recovery strategies.
  • Improve relational and non-relational data stores and clusters.
  • Maintain database asset inventories and supporting documentation.
  • Provide DBA support for production, staging, and development databases.
  • Design physical database structures with senior developers and data modelers.
  • Support automated and ad hoc reporting, ETL processes, and data pipelines.
  • Share technical expertise through mentoring and cross-training.
  • Assess user experience and recommend improvements to usability and query performance.
  • Maintain standards for database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring.

Requirements

  • Technical training, certification, or a degree.
  • At least 3 years of related experience.
  • Experience working in Linux environments.
  • Strong command-line skills, including Unix shell scripting, PowerShell, and AWS CLI for cloud storage management.
  • Experience administering PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle databases.
  • Experience administering MongoDB and other NoSQL technologies.
  • Experience configuring and managing HAProxy/Keepalived for database load balancing, connection pooling, and automated failover routing.
  • Experience managing automated database backups, repositories such as pgBackRest, and retention strategies using AWS S3 object storage.
  • Ability to write complex command-line scripts and SQL queries.
  • Ability to work without a managed database service.
  • Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete varied workloads under critical deadlines.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage equipment and services in remote locations.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a remote team.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Organized work habits and close attention to detail.
  • Must be able to obtain EPA Public Trust Level 4.
  • U.S. citizenship is required by the contract.
