Senior Data Engineer, Google Cloud (Remote)

Lead secure Google Cloud data architecture for a federal healthcare customer. Own pipelines, governance, migrations, and engineering standards across analytics and machine learning workloads.

Description

  • Architect and govern secure Google Cloud platforms for a federal healthcare customer.
  • Partner with infrastructure, application, and project teams to operate, modernize, and migrate cloud applications.
  • Define technical direction for new workloads.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize batch and streaming pipelines for analytics and machine learning.
  • Ingest and transform data from APIs, databases, SaaS platforms, streams, and files into curated BigQuery datasets.
  • Embed data-quality controls, schema validation, and automated testing in pipeline workflows.
  • Track pipeline performance and reliability through Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Logging.
  • Enforce governance and security controls covering IAM, encryption, masking, and auditability.
  • Manage pipeline infrastructure with Terraform and CI/CD practices.
  • Set data engineering standards, lead code reviews, and document datasets, transformations, and operating procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, data engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least three years of hands-on data engineering experience, including production cloud data pipelines.
  • At least three years of technical team leadership, including establishing standards and processes across cloud and on-premises environments and guiding technology decisions.
  • Practical experience with BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Dataproc, and Pub/Sub.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills, including distributed data processing and data modeling.
  • Experience preparing large-scale data and producing machine-learning-ready training datasets.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust background investigation.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens who have physically lived in the United States for at least three years because of background investigation requirements.
