Senior Controller, Canada (Remote)

Lead multi-country accounting, controls, audits, and reporting for Talent.com while partnering with the CFO, FP&A, and a distributed accounting team supporting the global job platform.

Description

  • Own end-to-end accounting operations, including payables, reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Maintain a close calendar that assigns clear ownership for every deliverable
  • Establish accounting policies and apply them consistently across entities and reporting frameworks
  • Develop a consistent control environment across jurisdictions, covering segregation of duties, approval limits, and documented procedures
  • Partner with local advisors and internal teams to satisfy market-specific tax, statutory, and compliance obligations
  • Direct external and statutory audits and prepare statutory financial statements with documentation kept audit-ready throughout the year
  • Deliver actuals reporting and analysis to the CFO, senior leadership, and Board, while providing FP&A with reliable data for planning and forecasting
  • Manage and develop an international accounting team and advance automation and systems improvements to accelerate close and reduce manual work

Requirements

  • Significant accounting and controllership experience, including ownership of financial close and internal controls
  • Experience overseeing accounting across multiple countries and currencies, with knowledge of differing statutory, tax, and compliance requirements
  • Track record of leading external and statutory audits as the primary contact
  • Experience managing managers or team leads and developing distributed teams
  • Professional accounting designation such as CPA, or equivalent qualification
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills for effective partnership with the CFO and senior leaders
  • Knowledge of Quebec financial, tax, and regulatory requirements, plus working proficiency in French
  • Experience serving as the senior accounting owner for multiple legal entities and managing statutory filings across countries
  • Experience building and scaling an accounting function within an enterprise SaaS company, including large-scale revenue recognition
  • Experience applying AI tools to automate accounting workflows and support analysis, or demonstrated interest in using AI for finance work
