Description

  • Create and execute global sourcing and category strategies for APIs, pharmaceutical packaging, and external manufacturing services.
  • Manage CMOs, CDMOs, and international suppliers across the full product lifecycle.
  • Own direct procurement categories covering APIs, primary and secondary packaging, and contract manufacturing.
  • Evaluate sourcing markets, supplier landscapes, available capacity, cost movements, and supply exposure.
  • Lead complex tenders and negotiate framework, supply, and contract manufacturing agreements.
  • Develop strategic supplier relationships and oversee performance and escalation processes.
  • Partner with QA, QC, Regulatory Affairs, Technical Operations, MSAT, Packaging Development, and Supply Chain.
  • Contribute to product and technology transfers, new product launches, and changes across the external manufacturing network.
  • Identify and reduce supply chain risks involving single-source suppliers, capacity limitations, material discontinuations, and supplier failures.
  • Establish dual-sourcing, regionalization, and business continuity approaches.
  • Contribute to supplier qualification, audits, change controls, and quality agreements with the relevant functions.
  • Deliver cost, contractual, and consolidation improvements while maintaining quality, compliance, and security of supply.

Requirements

  • Several years of strategic procurement experience in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or another similarly regulated industry.
  • Substantial experience in direct procurement and/or category management.
  • Strong expertise in at least two of these areas: APIs, primary and secondary packaging, or contract manufacturing through CMOs/CDMOs.
  • Background managing external manufacturing partners and complex international supplier networks.
  • Sound knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and supply chains.
  • Experience with packaging components such as vials, stoppers, closures, blisters, bottles, tubes, films, and other primary or secondary materials.
  • Working knowledge of GMP, supplier qualification, quality agreements, change control, and regulatory obligations.
  • Experience running international tenders, negotiating contracts, and managing strategic suppliers.
  • Strong grasp of cost structures, sourcing markets, capacity constraints, and supplier dependencies.
  • Experience working with Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Technical Operations, Supply Chain, and other technical teams.
  • Analytical, organized, and entrepreneurial approach to work.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Business-fluent English; German language skills are advantageous.
