Senior C++ Developer – UK Remote Contract

Join Instil as a senior C++ developer building high-performance Linux microservices for embedded devices. The contract role covers distributed services, APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.

Description

  • Create and maintain C++ services within a microservices architecture
  • Develop and troubleshoot Linux software, including shell scripts and system-level code
  • Work with cross-functional teams on APIs, service contracts, and deployment approaches
  • Improve performance and reliability across distributed systems
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
  • Take part in code reviews and architectural discussions
  • Meet security, quality, and performance standards
  • Build scalable, high-performance distributed services for embedded devices

Requirements

  • At least seven years of professional C++ development experience, including C++14, C++17, or C++20
  • Background developing and debugging Linux software, including shell scripting, system calls, and process and thread management
  • Strong knowledge of microservices architecture, REST APIs, and service orchestration
  • Experience using containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker
  • Familiarity with inter-process communication, message queues, and gRPC
  • Proficiency with Git and CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins and GitLab CI
  • Experience programming in an additional language such as Python or Go
  • Strong analytical and software debugging abilities
  • Based anywhere in the United Kingdom, with the right to work there; UK Security Clearance or eligibility to obtain it is required, typically involving at least five years of continuous UK residency and no more than 30 consecutive days outside the UK at one time
