Senior Backend Developer – Python, Data Engineering and GCP

Build production Python backends, ETL pipelines, and GCP data infrastructure for real estate applications. Connect backend services with React interfaces while using AI-assisted development tools.

Description

  • Develop and maintain production Python services, APIs, and asynchronous processing workflows.
  • Create and improve ETL pipelines, scheduled jobs, and advanced BigQuery queries across large historical and real estate datasets spanning more than 30,000 ZIP codes.
  • Operate GCP infrastructure, including Compute Engine, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, monitoring, and load balancing.
  • Prepare, compress, package, and cache data for efficient delivery in high-traffic applications.
  • Update React, Next.js, and TypeScript frontend code with AI assistants to integrate backend APIs with the user interface.
  • Lead features across the full workflow, from data ingestion and ETL processing through BigQuery, APIs, and frontend delivery.
  • Track production functionality with PostHog to assess user adoption and performance.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated professional experience building production backend systems and Python APIs.
  • Advanced BigQuery and SQL expertise with large historical and geographic datasets.
  • Hands-on experience administering GCP services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, and Pub/Sub.
  • Experience developing ETL pipelines, background jobs, queues, and asynchronous workflows.
  • Working knowledge of React, Next.js, and TypeScript sufficient to contribute within an existing frontend codebase.
  • Regular use of AI coding tools such as Claude, Cursor, or Copilot for refactoring, testing, and frontend component development.
  • Fluent English for daily one-to-one communication with the CEO.
  • Availability to work throughout Central Time business hours.
