Senior Back-End SDET

Lead backend test automation for Quanata’s digital insurance platform, validating APIs, microservices, cloud services, and distributed workflows.

Description

  • Build and maintain shared automation frameworks, internal services, and QA tools for engineering teams.
  • Set test strategy and execute testing for backend APIs, microservices, and end-to-end business workflows.
  • Plan coverage across component, contract, integration, and system testing.
  • Create and extend code-based automation frameworks with reusable setup and cleanup, data-driven scenarios, isolated dependencies, and clear failure reporting.
  • Check business rules, API contracts, data persistence, authorization, error handling, and service compatibility.
  • Test asynchronous processing and distributed-system failures, including retries, duplicate events, partial failures, and delayed consistency.
  • Add automated checks to continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
  • Test cloud-hosted services and deployment configurations, investigating failures with logs, telemetry, and infrastructure evidence.
  • Evaluate performance and resilience risks and design focused tests.
  • Work with engineers to resolve identified weaknesses.
  • Review requirements and architecture, then communicate quality risks.
  • Mentor engineers and independently lead complex testing work.
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Typically 6–8 years in software testing or engineering, including at least 3 years focused on backend APIs and service-based architectures.
  • Practical experience building test automation frameworks and connecting them to automated delivery pipelines.
  • Strong command of a general-purpose programming language.
  • In-depth knowledge of API testing, microservice interactions, service contracts, and distributed application behavior.
  • Advanced automation design expertise, covering test lifecycle management, parameterized execution, mocking, shared utilities, and parallel execution.
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting public-cloud applications, including identity and permissions, networking, compute, storage, and messaging dependencies.
  • Experience with CI/CD, source control, automated quality checks, and environment configuration.
  • Strong database query skills and the ability to trace data and failures across services.
  • Ability to turn incomplete requirements into useful tests and communicate technical findings clearly.
  • Property and casualty insurance experience is preferred.
  • Experience testing event-driven architectures and complex third-party integrations.
  • Experience in performance, resilience, and service-level security testing.
  • A record of improving automation reliability, execution time, or defect detection.
