Remote Healthcare Collections Specialist
Manage healthcare claims, denials, payment discrepancies, and patient accounts for Franciscan Health in a remote role. Support accurate billing follow-up and revenue-cycle process improvements.
Description
- Follow up accurately, compliantly, and promptly on claims submitted to third-party carriers and intermediaries.
- Respond to inquiries within required timeframes and hospital policies.
- Track claims and comply with contractual requirements.
- Review denials and payment discrepancies shown on EOBs, RAs, and payer correspondence.
- Analyze denial trends, provide supporting documentation and data, and recommend process improvements.
- Review system worklists daily and resolve accounts unpaid within 30 days of claim submission.
- Record patient-account activity accurately and promptly.
- Maintain follow-up procedures and collaborate with HIM and Patient Access.
- Verify newly received status information and update patient accounts.
- Escalate suspicious activity to the appropriate contact.
- Collaborate with the department to improve processes, increase efficiency, and support overall goals.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Two years of patient accounting experience, particularly in billing, collections, customer service, or cash application, preferred.
- One year of working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, medical and managed-care contract terminology, and revenue-cycle procedures preferred.
- Must comply with all applicable state and federal billing regulations.
- Travel is never or rarely required.
