Lead Notabene’s first external audit, multi-entity close, technical accounting, and finance automation. Support the company’s infrastructure for digital-economy money movement.

Description

  • Lead Notabene’s first external financial statement audit for fiscal years ending January 2026 and January 2027
  • Assess audit readiness, create the remediation plan, provide technical input on audit-firm selection, and manage the ongoing auditor relationship
  • Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual close for Notabene Inc. and Notabene GmbH
  • Prepare GAAP financial statements, consolidations, intercompany eliminations, and ASC 830 foreign-exchange translations
  • Develop technical accounting positions and memoranda covering ASC 606, ASC 350-40, ASC 718, and emerging stablecoin payment revenue matters
  • Manage Tabs as the billing and revenue system of record, including contract setup, usage-data integrity, and the Tabs-to-general-ledger bridge
  • Develop payroll allocation approaches and a software development capitalization policy
  • Create and implement controls covering revenue, cash, procure-to-pay, and payroll activities
  • Assess the accounting technology stack and automate high-volume, rules-based work such as categorization, reconciliation matching, usage validation, and collections follow-up
  • Oversee accounts receivable and collections with one direct report, along with accounts payable and payroll accounting
  • Manage US tax compliance with external advisers, including income tax provision and sales tax
  • Coordinate Swiss compliance with local accounting firms
  • Maintain checklists, policies, and reconciliations for external accounting providers
  • Report to the VP of Finance while managing one direct report and external providers
  • Strengthen accounting policies, documentation, systems, and automation as the company grows

Requirements

  • Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager experience in a venture-backed company
  • A record of improving processes and raising operational standards rather than only maintaining existing practices
  • Experience leading a company through its first external audit, with the ability to explain what failed and how it was resolved
  • Ownership of month-end close across at least two legal entities using different currencies
  • Substantial hands-on ASC 606 experience with a revenue model lacking clear precedent and the ability to defend the treatment to auditors
  • Precise accounting execution, including calendar ownership, reconciliations, and direct ledger work
  • Experience developing a small team or managing one direct report
  • Active CPA license preferred
  • Experience with usage-based or consumption billing, especially Tabs, Metronome, Maxio, or a comparable system, preferred
  • Public accounting experience, particularly audit, preferred
  • Experience with software development capitalization under ASC 350-40, including auditable time tracking, preferred
  • Experience automating manual accounting processes, with sound judgment about which activities should remain manual, preferred
  • Experience with Swiss entities, including CHF functional currency and Swiss statutory or VAT requirements, preferred
  • Experience in digital assets, payments, or regulated financial services preferred
