Remote Billing Representative - Michigan

Description

  • Maintain accurate data in the designated computer billing system
  • Enter new information and update existing billing records
  • Respond to patient and prospective patient questions about insurance, credit, and related matters
  • Review and mail monthly statements for private-pay, commercial, compensation, and problem Blue Cross and Champus accounts
  • Submit electronic claims when available
  • Track and follow up on litigation cases
  • Scan required patient documents into the electronic medical record
  • Contact physicians and referral sources to obtain documentation and authorizations needed for service billing
  • Review accounts receivable statements for Munson Home Medical Equipment
  • Record account notes, bill insurers, process payments, coordinate refunds, issue statements, and make collection calls
  • Refer accounts deemed uncollectible to a collection agency

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • An associate degree in business is preferred
  • Additional training in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management is required
  • At least three years of experience in a hospital or related work environment is required
  • Demonstrated above-average mathematics ability
  • Demonstrated analytical ability
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred
  • Vaccination or laboratory-confirmed immunity for measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella is required
  • A flu vaccine is required during the flu season of the hiring year and each year afterward unless an approved medical or religious exemption applies
