Remote Big Data Developer in Spain at Talan
Build Spark, Scala, and SQL data lake pipelines for Talan’s technology consulting clients. Support Market Risk analytics, production reliability, and Agile delivery.
Description
- Create and maintain data lake pipelines with Apache Spark, Scala, and SQL
- Develop scalable processing solutions for high-volume datasets
- Coordinate batch workflows and dependencies with Control-M and Airflow
- Deliver data ingestion, transformation, validation, and publication processes for Market Risk use cases
- Improve Spark workload performance, reliability, and scalability
- Review technical and functional requirements, identify gaps, and recommend solutions
- Support delivery planning while working across multiple teams
- Respond to production incidents and conduct root-cause analysis
- Help improve operational processes continuously
- Work with Agile squads, functional stakeholders, and production support teams
- Follow software engineering and data development best practices
Requirements
- At least two years of professional experience in Big Data, data lakes, or cloud-based data platforms
- Practical expertise with Apache Spark, Scala, and SQL for large-scale data processing
- Understanding of data lake architecture, data quality controls, data lineage, and production-ready pipelines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Clear communication and effective teamwork skills
- Ability to work with technical and functional stakeholders
- Adaptable, proactive approach to technical challenges
- C1 English proficiency or equivalent professional fluency
- Control-M and Airflow experience is highly valued
- Databricks, Azure, and AWS experience is highly valued
- YARN and cloud-based compute experience is highly valued
- CI/CD and software engineering experience with GitHub, Jenkins, and SonarQube is highly valued
- Experience in banking production environments, operational monitoring, and tools such as ServiceNow is highly valued
- Knowledge of Market Risk processes, including P&L, valuations, risk metrics, and regulatory reporting data flows, is highly valued
- Spanish language skills are an advantage
