Principal Site Reliability Engineer Lead - Poland Remote

Lead Kubernetes-based control-plane reliability at Akamai as a Principal Site Reliability Engineer. Build scalable, cloud-native infrastructure supporting a distributed cloud and edge platform.

Description

  • Help design, develop, and operate a Kubernetes-based Golden Path platform using cloud-native technologies
  • Provide technical and architectural direction for the Next Generation Control Plane
  • Drive the transition to a highly available, resilient, distributed microservices architecture
  • Lead, support, and mentor team members
  • Define and maintain service-level objectives and key performance indicators
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, and Support teams
  • Take part in scheduled on-call rotations
  • Direct the recovery and remediation of incidents affecting services
  • Contribute in a fast-moving environment centered on innovation, rapid delivery, and open communication

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of relevant professional experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • Extensive experience building and running highly available, fault-tolerant, scalable production services with Kubernetes and other cloud-native technologies
  • Strong knowledge of Linux internals, particularly containerization and networking
  • Infrastructure operations experience grounded in automation and code
  • Working knowledge of Go
  • Ability to script effectively in Python or Bash
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code platforms such as Crossplane, Pulumi, Terraform, or Ansible
  • Deep familiarity with modern observability tools, including OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, or Loki
  • A structured, inquisitive approach to solving complex technical problems
