Description

  • Create machine learning systems, resolve data gaps, and continuously improve the existing ML pipeline
  • Implement research papers on alternative architectures and compare their results with production models through training experiments
  • Deploy and operate infrastructure such as Redis clusters to support machine learning workloads
  • Influence architecture and statistical methodology decisions in partnership with the wider engineering organization
  • Guide Thrive Market’s long-term search and discovery direction as large language models expand product possibilities
  • Present model performance and roadmap progress, including commercial and revenue implications
  • Connect practical MLOps delivery with research-oriented thinking across infrastructure, experimentation, production, and business results

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of machine learning engineering experience across MLOps and research, with principal-level ownership from paper-based investigation through production delivery and business-impact communication
  • Practical experience interpreting and implementing machine learning research, then running controlled training comparisons against production baselines
  • Experience building and operating machine learning infrastructure and pipelines, including systems such as Redis clusters
  • Understanding of search and discovery platforms, including the tradeoffs that large language models create between internal development and external solutions
  • Ability to lead cross-functional technical discussions and challenge architecture or statistical methodology across teams
  • Experience presenting technical findings and roadmaps, including business and revenue outcomes, to broad or executive audiences
  • Hands-on background in search, personalization, recommendations, ranking, or lifecycle modeling
  • Knowledge of MLOps practices including model versioning, machine learning CI/CD, monitoring, and production operation in Docker- and Kubernetes-based environments
  • Experience working in e-commerce, marketplace, or subscription businesses
  • Comfort working with moderate technical debt and evolving data foundations
  • Experience defining metrics, experimentation systems, or production model-performance monitoring
  • Track record of influencing standards, practices, or strategy beyond an immediate project or team
  • Employees must be located in the United States and remain based there throughout employment with Thrive Market
