Principal DevSecOps Engineer (Remote, United States)

Lead the security and automation of GDIT’s cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and AI workloads. Build DevSecOps, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, and compliance capabilities for government and defense environments.

Description

  • Design, automate, and secure infrastructure and deployment pipelines for mission-critical enterprise and AI workloads
  • Create Python, Bash, and other approved scripts for infrastructure, application, and security operations
  • Build and maintain Ansible playbooks for infrastructure and application administration
  • Use GitLab and approved source-control and CI/CD tools to manage automation code, configuration, documentation, and version history
  • Standardize, simplify, and automate manual processes
  • Create automated health checks and validation workflows for systems and applications
  • Connect infrastructure platforms through APIs, scripts, structured data, and approved interfaces
  • Design and automate security workflows across CI/CD and compliance operations
  • Embed vulnerability scanning, secrets management, and compliance checks into CI/CD pipelines
  • Automate security-scan ingestion, finding triage, and evidence creation
  • Develop audit-readiness and compliance materials, including continuous-monitoring reports and NIST 800-53/FedRAMP control mappings
  • Analyze inventory changes and detect configuration drift
  • Design, implement, and maintain secure cloud infrastructure with Ansible, Terraform, and GitLab CI/CD
  • Support the deployment, administration, and optimization of Kubernetes and EKS workloads
  • Automate MLOps and AIOps platforms for AI/ML model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management
  • Automate operational work in coordination with network monitoring and Linux administration teams
  • Diagnose data flows and integrations spanning monitoring, event management, infrastructure management, and IT service management technologies
  • Support application upgrades, maintenance, configuration changes, vulnerability remediation, and troubleshooting
  • Contribute to root-cause analysis across multiple systems and technical interfaces
  • Maintain architecture and interface documentation, automation repositories, operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers while serving as a technical resource
  • Take part in cross-training, business-hours operational support, and scheduled on-call rotations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • At least eight years of professional experience in systems administration, infrastructure engineering, infrastructure automation, DevOps or DevSecOps, systems integration, cloud engineering, or enterprise application support
  • At least two years of hands-on production experience with Linux, scripting, automation, or systems integration in enterprise environments
  • Proven experience applying DevSecOps practices, including container security, secrets management, and vulnerability remediation
  • Knowledge of NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, or comparable security compliance frameworks
  • Experience supporting internal or external audits
  • Hands-on experience with at least two of the following: Python, Bash or shell scripting, Ansible, Git or GitLab CI/CD tooling, Linux administration, REST APIs, infrastructure as code, configuration management, or enterprise monitoring
  • An active DoD Secret clearance at hire, with the ability to maintain it
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities
  • Ability to understand relationships among applications, infrastructure, interfaces, and data flows
  • Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar technologies
  • Ability to collaborate across systems, networking, cybersecurity, monitoring, and application teams
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to document solutions and connect technical concepts to program stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel 10–25%
