Principal DevOps Engineer - India Remote

Lead the architecture and operation of PeopleFluent’s hybrid on-premises and AWS hosting infrastructure. Drive automation, scalability, security, reliability, and technical direction for the hosting environment.

Description

  • Manage and maintain PeopleFluent’s hosting pipelines and automation infrastructure
  • Define the technical vision and architecture for compute, networking, and platform services
  • Guide design decisions toward long-term scalability, security, and maintainability
  • Identify opportunities to optimize infrastructure performance and operations
  • Scale and secure the company’s infrastructure through hands-on engineering
  • Deliver complex infrastructure initiatives from planning through completion
  • Document and govern infrastructure changes through established processes
  • Partner with engineering and product teams to establish technical requirements
  • Explain technical designs and their associated trade-offs
  • Mentor colleagues across the hosting organization

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline
  • At least 10 years of professional industry experience
  • Proficiency with Enterprise Linux, including SELinux policy management, standard configuration and enforcement, and headless server administration
  • Solid networking fundamentals, including DHCP and subnetting
  • Experience administering virtualization platforms such as Proxmox and vSphere, including advanced cluster setup, VLANs, virtual switches, and network segmentation
  • Experience owning and administering observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog
  • Practical experience with Git and shell scripting
  • Extensive AWS experience, including EC2, S3, RDS, and Route 53
  • Hands-on expertise provisioning, orchestrating, and administering infrastructure with Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes
  • Experience automating releases and deployments with Jenkins
  • Experience managing configuration changes through formal change control, including Git workflows, branching, pull requests, and code review
  • Bonus: Background in data center operations, including automated network switch configuration
  • Bonus: Experience automating basic firewall rule management
  • Bonus: Database administration experience with Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Microsoft SQL
  • Bonus: Experience with Elasticsearch and Kafka
