Principal Backend Architect, C#/.NET and Azure — Latin America Remote

Description

  • Define the server-side architecture for all products
  • Lead the incremental migration and engineering decomposition of the monolith into bounded services
  • Establish and enforce standards, shared libraries, service templates, and API and contract design practices
  • Define event-driven architecture with Azure Service Bus, including delivery guarantees, retries, idempotency, and poison-message failure handling
  • Partner with the Data Architect on transaction boundaries, access models, query performance, and customer and partner integrations
  • Lead by example in the daily use of agentic AI tools and raise the team’s technical standards
  • Write ADRs, review key pull requests, mentor engineers, participate in incident response, and contribute to quarterly planning

Requirements

  • 10+ years of backend development or engineering experience, including several years in formal architecture or technical leadership roles
  • Deep expertise in C# and .NET
  • Demonstrable hands-on Azure experience, including Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, and Data Factory
  • Practical experience with PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB, and Snowflake
  • Experience with CI/CD practices and DevOps
  • Proven experience incrementally migrating or decomposing monolithic systems
  • Strong background in asynchronous messaging, idempotency, dead-lettering, and resilient API design
  • Daily, practical use of agentic AI tools such as Claude, Claude Code, or similar tools
  • Experience building with AI, including agents, reusable skills, MCP servers, and evaluations
  • Hands-on engineering profile with the ability to continue coding and building solutions; this is not a pure management or theoretical architecture role
