Power BI Developer - United States Remote

Develop enterprise Power BI dashboards, semantic models, and analytics for General Dynamics Information Technology’s government technology projects. Integrate enterprise data and improve reporting performance and governance.

Description

  • Create, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise business intelligence solutions in Microsoft Power BI.
  • Build interactive dashboards, reports, visualizations, and analytical products.
  • Convert business and reporting needs into scalable, reusable Power BI solutions.
  • Develop semantic models, relationships, measures, calculated columns, and other analytical components with DAX.
  • Transform, cleanse, integrate, and prepare data using Power Query and M.
  • Connect Power BI solutions to enterprise data sources.
  • Design efficient dimensional data models based on star-schema principles.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries, views, and data transformations.
  • Implement row-level security and other access controls for reports and datasets.
  • Publish and administer reports, semantic models, dashboards, and applications in Power BI Service.
  • Configure and resolve issues with data refreshes, gateways, connections, and scheduled refreshes.
  • Track and improve report, semantic model, and query performance.
  • Support solution releases across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Conduct unit and integration testing and assist with user acceptance testing.
  • Resolve issues involving reports, data models, data quality, refreshes, gateways, and connectivity.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, data definitions, report specifications, and solution records.
  • Work with business analysts, developers, administrators, architects, data teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Explain analytical findings, dashboards, and technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Offer technical guidance and knowledge support to end users and junior staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying business intelligence and analytics solutions.
  • Practical experience creating enterprise reports, dashboards, semantic models, and analytical solutions with Microsoft Power BI.
  • Experience integrating and transforming data from multiple enterprise sources.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
  • Strong DAX skills.
  • Strong Power Query and M skills.
  • Experience designing semantic models, relationships, hierarchies, measures, and calculated columns.
  • Experience with dimensional modeling and star-schema design.
  • Strong SQL proficiency.
  • Experience connecting Power BI to SQL Server, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Dataverse, Excel, APIs, and other enterprise sources.
  • Experience implementing row-level security and administering access to Power BI content.
  • Experience publishing and managing reports, semantic models, dashboards, workspaces, and Power BI applications.
  • Experience configuring and diagnosing scheduled refreshes, data connections, and on-premises data gateways.
  • Ability to diagnose and improve Power BI report, semantic model, DAX, and query performance.
  • Understanding of data quality, validation, and reporting governance practices.
  • Experience supporting deployments through development, test, and production environments.
  • Familiarity with Power BI deployment pipelines and source or version control practices.
  • Familiarity with Agile methods.
  • Ability to turn business and reporting requirements into scalable, maintainable, reusable technical solutions.
  • Ability to explain complex data and analytics concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and knowledge support to junior staff.
  • Commitment to keeping current with Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and emerging analytics technologies.
  • Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Developer Associate (PL-400 or AB-400) certification.
  • ITIL v4 or v5 Foundation certification.
  • Ability to pass a background check for a Public Trust position.
  • U.S. citizenship is not required.
