Part-Time Corporate Accountant (Hybrid) – Burnaby

Ideal Siding is seeking a part-time Corporate Accountant to support its multi-location siding renovation business. This hybrid Burnaby role covers full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and process improvements.

Description

  • Oversee full-cycle accounting and daily bookkeeping activities across the company
  • Keep general ledger accounts complete and accurate
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, balance sheets, and intercompany balances
  • Assist with accounts receivable, payroll administration, and GST, HST, and tax filings
  • Maintain thorough financial records and record transactions accurately and on schedule
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, and management reports for the Director of Finance
  • Contribute to month-end and year-end close through reconciliations, adjusting entries, and working papers
  • Help develop budgets and forecasts and perform variance analysis
  • Review results across entities or locations to uncover discrepancies, trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Help maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and standardized financial procedures
  • Compile schedules and supporting documentation for year-end reviews, audits, and other external accounting needs
  • Recommend ways to simplify, standardize, or automate accounting and reporting workflows
  • Work with the Director of Finance and other teams to resolve accounting issues and strengthen financial data quality

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related discipline from a recognized university
  • Three to five years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and analysis
  • Background in a multi-location, multi-entity, franchise, retail, construction, or similarly distributed organization
  • Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and relevant tax and regulatory obligations, including GST and HST
  • Advanced working ability with Excel and experience using accounting software or ERP systems
  • High level of accuracy, organization, accountability, and independence in meeting recurring deadlines
  • Effective communicator who can work productively with finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • CPA designation or active pursuit of a Canadian CPA designation is preferred
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online or a comparable cloud accounting platform is preferred
  • Experience supporting a franchise network or operations spanning Canada and the United States is preferred
  • Experience using automation to improve accounting workflows, controls, or reporting is preferred
  • Availability for approximately 20 to 30 hours per week across five days
  • General availability Monday through Friday in the morning and early afternoon, within the 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. timeframe
  • Based in the Metro Vancouver area, with the ability and willingness to commute
  • Authorized to work in Canada, including compliance with any conditions or expiry dates that affect continued part-time employment
