Operations Specialist - Los Alamos, NM (Onsite)

Coordinate project activities, operational readiness, assessments, and stakeholder communications for regulated facility operations at BGI. Support DOE-compliant documentation, process improvement, and execution across technical teams and partner organizations.

Description

  • Coordinate project activities, schedules, deliverables, milestones, and action tracking across multiple organizations
  • Act as the primary coordination link among facility personnel, program customers, technical teams, and other stakeholders
  • Assist with planning and executing operational readiness activities for technical and regulated facilities
  • Conduct facility and area walkdowns to assess field conditions, operational requirements, and readiness
  • Support internal assessments, external audits, workplace observations, and corrective-action activities
  • Monitor project and operational actions through closure while reporting status, risks, and unresolved needs
  • Collect technical input from subject matter experts and convert requirements into plans, procedures, communications, and controlled documents
  • Evaluate operational information and produce accurate, practical work products that support decisions and execution
  • Research and apply approaches for operational readiness, process improvement, and procedure development
  • Verify that work products meet applicable DOE requirements, organizational procedures, and institutional standards
  • Create written, verbal, and visual communications supporting facility and program goals
  • Keep documentation and records accurate and current
  • Work with internal departments and external partners
  • Follow safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Escalate unsafe conditions, equipment problems, and incidents to management
  • Attend required training and safety briefings
  • Complete additional assigned duties in support of operational needs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus at least five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience
  • Background supporting operational, technical, regulated, or compliance-focused work environments
  • Experience coordinating project activities, schedules, deliverables, assessments, and action tracking among multiple stakeholders
  • Experience supporting facility walkdowns, workplace observations, assessments, or comparable field activities
  • Ability to interpret and apply organizational policies, procedures, and institutional requirements
  • Strong stakeholder coordination, interpersonal, and customer-service abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex information clearly
  • Ability to assess technical or operational information and turn it into clear, accurate, actionable work products
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Preferred: Familiarity with DOE Orders and LANL procedures governing nuclear facility operations
  • Preferred: Experience creating, maintaining, and revising project schedules
  • Preferred: Experience using LANL business systems such as Oracle, UTrain, or PDMLink
  • Preferred: Knowledge of process improvement methods including Lean Six Sigma
  • Preferred: Active DOE Q Clearance
