Mid-Level Decision Science Analyst, P&C Analytics | USAA | Hybrid

USAA is hiring a mid-level Decision Science Analyst to support personal lines Property & Casualty underwriting through advanced data analysis. The role develops insights that guide risk strategy, mitigation, and profitable growth.

Description

  • Optimize underwriting strategies for USAA’s personal lines Property & Casualty business
  • Acquire, integrate, and analyze complex data sets from end to end
  • Support decisions involving risk precision, risk sharing, risk mitigation, and risk acceptability
  • Collaborate across functions to clarify business objectives and shape solution strategies
  • Apply advanced analytical methods to medium- and large-scale business challenges
  • Use scientific and quantitative methods to turn analysis into actionable recommendations
  • Prepare recommendations and supporting materials for peer review and mid- to upper-level management
  • Create data visualizations that communicate findings to less technical audiences
  • Locate and validate relevant, high-quality data through testing and exploratory analysis
  • Transform disparate data sources and apply appropriate data-quality practices
  • Record assumptions, methodologies, validation, and testing for peer review and compliance
  • Adopt emerging technologies that influence scientific and quantitative analytics
  • Present findings to shape management decisions, business direction, and strategy
  • Identify, assess, monitor, and manage risks under applicable risk and compliance policies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Operations Research, Data or Business Analysis, Data Science, or another quantitative discipline; alternatively, four years of related statistics, mathematics, or quantitative analytics experience may substitute for the degree
  • Four years of data, analytics, or relevant functional business experience in the applicable industry; alternatively, an advanced quantitative degree plus two years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in mathematical and statistical methods used to support evidence-based decisions
  • Intermediate to advanced familiarity with data analysis, visualization, and query or procedure development using SQL, SAS, BI tools, or other analytical software
  • Understanding of relevant industry data and methods, with the ability to apply external insights to business challenges
  • Professional experience supporting core Property & Casualty insurance functions
  • Professional experience using Python for data analysis
  • Experience communicating analytical insights through data storytelling to non-technical audiences
  • Working knowledge of statistical modeling principles and interpreting model outputs into actionable business insights
  • Commitment to continually developing analytical methods and Property & Casualty insurance expertise
  • Military experience through service or as a military spouse or domestic partner
  • Must not require immigration assistance or visa sponsorship, including H-1B, TN, or STEM OPT Training Plans
