Mechanical Designer - Carrollton, TX (Onsite)

Designs CAD models, drawings, and mechanical components for manufacturing, access solutions, automation, and assembly projects. The role supports machined and sheet-metal parts, tooling, robotics, and production processes.

Description

  • Create mechanical designs for fabrication, manufacturing, assembly, and industrial applications
  • Develop machined and sheet-metal parts
  • Design mechanical systems and components
  • Produce manufacturing drawings for parts and assemblies
  • Prepare subsystem and detail drawings and models
  • Manage assemblies within large CAD models
  • Use drafting standards, CAD standards, product-design principles, and GD&T
  • Present design concepts to fabrication, manufacturing, assembly, engineering, and sales teams
  • Learn and apply 4Front engineering, assembly, and ERP processes
  • Coordinate multiple projects amid shifting priorities, competing demands, and tight deadlines
  • Apply structured problem-solving techniques to engineering challenges
  • Contribute independently and collaboratively to cross-functional project teams
  • Support equipment, tooling, automation, robotics, and manufacturing-process design
  • Work safely in office and production areas around moving mechanical equipment

Requirements

  • Associate of Applied Science in drafting, mechanical design, engineering technology, or a related field from an accredited college, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five to seven years of practical mechanical-design experience in fabrication, manufacturing, assembly, or an industrial setting
  • Experience designing machined and sheet-metal parts
  • At least two years of AutoCAD design or drafting experience
  • Experience designing and developing mechanical systems and components
  • Experience with machine design and Solid CAD modeling
  • Experience with product design, GD&T, and CAD tools
  • Hands-on experience with machined and sheet-metal parts
  • Ability to use spreadsheet, word-processing, database, and automated systems
  • Intermediate or advanced Microsoft Office skills; Word, Excel, Smartsheet, and PowerPoint preferred
  • Ability to create manufacturing drawings for parts and assemblies
  • Proficiency with CAD-based mechanical design tools such as AutoCAD or Autodesk Inventor
  • Skills in 3D solid modeling and 2D CAD drafting
  • General knowledge and experience with ERP systems
  • Valid motor-vehicle operator’s license and ability to drive a motor vehicle
  • Working knowledge of industry drafting and CAD standards
  • Ability to interpret customer specifications and engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of mechanical-component design and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to contribute to cross-functional teams while managing multiple projects
  • Ability to learn 4Front engineering, assembly, and ERP processes
  • Knowledge of mechanical drawing standards and GD&T preferred
  • Ability to work with plane geometry, solid geometry, and trigonometry
  • Electromechanical aptitude and mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of CAD assembly management and subsystem or detail drawings
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing, assembly, sewing, and welding equipment and tooling
  • Working knowledge of material types, specifications, and characteristics used in dock and entrance automation products and warehouse solutions
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays, when workload requires
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments and office or production equipment
