Lead Forward Deployed Engineer - Chicago Onsite

Lead the architecture and delivery of healthcare data, analytics, application, and AI solutions for complex Vizient engagements. Guide technical teams from discovery and solution design through production transition.

Description

  • Lead the architecture, technical design, and delivery of enterprise data, analytics, application, and AI solutions
  • Own end-to-end technical delivery for complex engagements, from discovery and solution design through development, deployment, validation, and transition
  • Establish reusable architecture patterns, development frameworks, code libraries, integration standards, and engineering practices
  • Ensure solutions meet standards for scalability, maintainability, security, observability, technology, and governance
  • Lead technical design sessions, architecture reviews, solution reviews, and other technical working sessions
  • Identify and resolve delivery risks related to infrastructure, data access, integrations, security, architecture, and governance
  • Work with client leaders, analysts, engineers, clinicians, and business teams to turn healthcare challenges into technical solutions
  • Advise senior client stakeholders on solution strategies supporting clinical, operational, and business objectives
  • Explain technical concepts, architecture decisions, and implementation considerations to technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Use AI-assisted and agentic development methods with suitable controls and guardrails
  • Create experimentation frameworks for prototyping, evaluation, refinement, and transition to production
  • Partner with Data Engineering, Application Engineering, Product, and Analytics teams
  • Mentor engineers through technical coaching, knowledge sharing, and guidance on architecture and development decisions
  • Advance engineering excellence through reusable assets, documented practices, communities of practice, and consistent standards
  • Oversee architecture patterns, integration standards, and agentic development frameworks
  • Build reusable frameworks, code libraries, reference architectures, and engineering best practices

Requirements

  • A relevant degree is preferred
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience is required
  • Experience leading the architecture and delivery of complex, multi-component technical solutions is required
  • Experience with healthcare data, healthcare analytics, or healthcare technology is required
  • Advanced SQL expertise and experience with modern cloud data and application platforms, including Databricks, are required
  • Experience integrating data platforms, APIs, application layers, visualization tools, and cloud services is required
  • Experience with AI-assisted development, large language models, agentic workflows, or related AI technologies is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of cloud-native architecture, application integration, security-by-design, source control, and CI/CD practices is preferred
  • Experience rapidly prototyping solutions and moving concepts into scalable implementations is preferred
  • Strong consulting skills and the ability to translate healthcare and business challenges into technical strategies are preferred
  • Experience leading technical discussions and presenting recommendations to senior technical, business, clinical, and operational leaders is preferred
  • Ability to mentor engineers and influence technical standards across teams without direct reporting authority is preferred
  • Knowledge of Vizient data, analytics products, or the Clinical Data Base is preferred
  • Willingness to travel
