Lead Donor Center Technician - Laredo, TX

Lead donor center technician role focused on plasma-donor screening and plasmapheresis procedures in Laredo, Texas. Support Grifols’ plasma-derived medicines and transfusion healthcare operations through safe, compliant donor care.

Description

  • Conduct pre-donation medical screening in line with established guidelines
  • Measure hematocrit and protein levels using finger sticks, a hematastat, and a refractometer
  • Promote donor satisfaction through responsive and appropriate interactions
  • Evaluate donor suitability and manage plasmapheresis machine and donor setup, monitoring, and disconnect procedures
  • Explain ineligibility outcomes and provide feedback to unsuitable donor candidates
  • Verify that donor screening information is complete and accurate before donation
  • Protect donor confidentiality at all times
  • Communicate donor medical information clearly to medical staff
  • Create and maintain well-organized donor files
  • Keep documentation and records accurate, complete, and up to date
  • Maintain a clean, organized, efficient work area with the required supplies
  • Dispose of contaminated disposable equipment according to procedure
  • Build positive donor relationships that encourage continued participation and center satisfaction
  • Handle administrative tasks such as greeting donors, answering phones, and supporting center management
  • Stay familiar with and comply with state and federal regulations, FDA-approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and internal procedures
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas between donors
  • Cross-train and support other functions to maintain efficient center operations

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Obtain required state licenses or certifications where applicable
  • Typically, two years of related experience are required
  • Understand and follow instructions to complete assigned tasks
  • Listen to and understand information and ideas communicated through spoken words and sentences
  • Work effectively under oral or written direction
  • Perform a broad range of complex tasks under changing demands and conditions
  • Communicate sensitive information appropriately to diverse groups
  • Work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical office and laboratory equipment, and temperatures below 32°F
  • Use required personal protective equipment, including protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold-weather gear
  • Remain seated or standing for a full shift, bend and twist, and perform frequent hand and foot movements
  • Perform precise, coordinated finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects
  • Lift 15 pounds routinely and up to 50 pounds maximum
  • Have essential hearing acuity and correctable near and far vision
  • Demonstrate color perception and discrimination, with vision correctable to 20/30 in one eye and 20/100 in the other
