Java Software Development Engineer Intern – Thales, Massy

Description

  • Learn about the air defense domain and the team’s technical development environment
  • Develop software features and improve the graphical user interface
  • Enhance the user experience and design of an operational GUI using Thales’s Quantum design system
  • Improve the UI and UX of a Java Swing air traffic control interface
  • Work with engineers, developers, and domain specialists in an agile organization
  • Collaborate with GUI specialists, UX designers, and project teams
  • Present progress and share work regularly with stakeholders
  • Present deliverables and validate operational concepts
  • Prepare the internship report
  • Prepare the internship report

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a master’s degree or five-year higher education qualification in computer science at an engineering school or university
  • Available for a six-month internship
  • Prior experience developing Java Swing applications or interfaces
  • Able to design and manage graphical interfaces in Java Swing
  • Knowledge of or initial experience with C++
  • Experience with tools such as Maven, CMake, IntelliJ IDEA, Visual Studio, Git, or Bitbucket
  • Experience with a GUI testing tool such as QFTest
  • Initial knowledge of or experience with GUI development and UX
  • Able to work independently and accurately
  • Strong collaboration skills when working with varied stakeholders
  • Able to analyze problems, suggest solutions, and take initiative
  • Clear communicator with effective work-organization skills
  • May be required to complete a security clearance procedure when accessing information classified as a national defense secret
