By documenting animal abuse, supporting stronger protections, and encouraging alternatives to animal products, Mercy For Animals seeks to create lasting change for farmed animals and the wider food system.
Remote Legal Intern at Mercy For Animals
Support Mercy For Animals’ animal-protection advocacy through legal research, memoranda, litigation, campaigns, and policy work. This remote summer internship includes attorney supervision and nonprofit compliance projects.
Description
- Support advocacy campaigns, litigation, and policy initiatives
- Research and interpret federal, state, and local laws
- Prepare legal memoranda
- Review undercover investigation footage
- Carry out campaign activities
- Support nonprofit administration, corporate governance, and legal compliance work
- Meet online with an attorney supervisor at least twice each week
- Participate in Mercy For Animals legal-team meetings and other internal events
- Meet online with fellow interns weekly
- Join educational sessions led by investigations, campaigns, policy, and organizing teams
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in law school
- Applicants licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state may also apply
- Commit to an internship lasting at least eight weeks
- Be available for up to 29 hours per week over an eight- to twelve-week period
