IT Category Manager - Unilabs (Barcelona Hybrid)

Lead IT sourcing, category strategy, contracts, and supplier relationships across technology spend areas for Unilabs. Based in Barcelona, support the company’s European diagnostics transformation through commercial value, risk management, and stakeholder collaboration.

Description

  • Lead sourcing strategy and supplier relationships across software, hardware, cloud, telecoms, IT consultancy, and AI categories
  • Help deliver commercial value, manage risk, and align procurement with business and technology priorities
  • Support organisational change, deliver outcomes, and establish procurement standards
  • Partner with stakeholders across the business to deliver projects and improve supplier performance
  • Travel when required by business needs
  • Agree and implement sourcing strategies for assigned IT categories using business requirements and market intelligence
  • Act as the subject-matter expert for assigned categories, providing guidance on market and sourcing developments
  • Build detailed knowledge of the assigned procurement categories
  • Analyse spend and segment suppliers to identify improvement opportunities
  • Support the Senior Global IT Category Manager with cross-border IT transactions and full category management, including RFPs, negotiations, and contract awards and administration
  • Maintain commercially sound and legally compliant contracts
  • Work with IT and business stakeholders to connect category objectives with organisational priorities
  • Prepare, review, and negotiate commercial provisions in IT agreements
  • Track and report savings, compliance, and procurement risk
  • Promote supplier innovation and ongoing improvement
  • Oversee supplier performance, including service levels, KPIs, and relationship management

Requirements

  • Bring at least five years of IT procurement, strategic sourcing, and category management experience in multinational organisations
  • Understand IT markets, licensing structures, and digital technologies
  • Communicate effectively and engage stakeholders confidently
  • Demonstrate expertise negotiating IT contracts and managing software licensing models and commercial frameworks across software, IT services including SaaS and cloud, enterprise agreements, hardware, and telecoms
  • Use a collaborative and influential approach to build credibility with senior stakeholders and shape business decisions
  • CIPS or ITIL certification would be advantageous
  • Communicate fluently in spoken and written English
  • Work effectively as a collaborative team member
  • Take a proactive, positive, and solutions-oriented approach
  • Work comfortably at speed, meet deadlines consistently, and remain composed under pressure
  • Show resilience and adaptability in changing environments
