Human Spaceflight Engineer

Support NASA Artemis transportation and lunar base operations by defining requirements, assessing readiness, and integrating human spaceflight systems at The Aerospace Corporation.

Description

  • Connect exploration initiatives across lunar base, nuclear, science, and Artemis transportation programs.
  • Define operational technical requirements for program work.
  • Assess program readiness and performance.
  • Work with NASA mission architects, designers, and government and industry experts.
  • Review contractor deliverables and NASA requirements for compliance and system effectiveness.
  • Help develop standards and documentation for exploration operations.
  • Manage key program plans and deliverables.
  • Support planning for facilities and infrastructure.
  • Take part in technical, safety, and integration working groups.
  • Prepare technical and progress reports for internal teams and external partners.
  • Support technical interchange meetings, hardware reviews, and major design milestones.
  • Create clear, actionable reports and presentations for program offices.
  • Integrate activities and serve in program office roles supporting NASA programs.
  • Coordinate Artemis transportation and lunar base work for in-flight, orbital, and surface operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related STEM field.
  • At least one year of progressively responsible engineering or scientific experience, including systems engineering and program life cycle work.
  • Entry-level experience with human exploration architecture, integration, and mission operations.
  • Understanding of the engineering program life cycle.
  • Initiative and ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and recommendations orally and in writing to technical and management audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and engineering disciplines, including human-in-the-loop disciplines.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
  • May need to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • An advanced degree in engineering, science, or a related STEM field is a plus.
  • Experience with NASA processes and teams is a plus.
  • Experience designing and developing human-centered operations is a plus.
  • Experience coordinating with international partners and commercial vendors is a plus.
