GIS Developer – AtkinsRéalis (Hybrid, Canada)
Build FME-based ETL automations and integrations for AtkinsRéalis, supporting dependable geospatial data workflows across GIS, CAD/BIM, and project systems. Work with enterprise platforms and engineering teams to improve data quality, synchronization, and production automation.
Description
- Create and maintain automation and data-integration solutions for the ALTO project
- Assess requirements for geospatial data integration, transformation, validation, and synchronization
- Build, test, document, and reuse ETL workflows in FME Form
- Deploy, schedule, monitor, and maintain automations through FME Flow
- Automate quality checks, anomaly detection, and validation reporting
- Connect and synchronize ArcGIS Enterprise, PostgreSQL, CAD/BIM environments, and other project systems
- Implement logging, error handling, alerts, and recovery procedures
- Improve workflow performance, scalability, and maintainability
- Investigate production automation incidents and apply corrective changes
- Follow development, version-control, testing, documentation, and deployment standards
- Partner with GIS, CAD/BIM, engineering, and information management teams
Requirements
- University degree in geomatics, computer science, software engineering, or a related field; equivalent education and experience may be considered
- At least five years of relevant experience, including three or more years developing with FME
- Hands-on experience with ArcGIS Enterprise and PostgreSQL, including enterprise geodatabase integration, management, and support
- Experience using FME Flow to deploy, schedule, monitor, and manage production automations is an asset
- Experience connecting GIS data with CAD/BIM sources, geodatabases, relational databases, files, and web services
- Proficiency with FME Form for complex, reusable ETL workflow development, testing, and optimization
- Strong understanding of geospatial formats, coordinate systems, schemas, validation rules, and data-quality practices
- Advanced SQL skills with PostgreSQL
- Knowledge of Python, REST APIs, web services, and version control is an asset
- Ability to document requirements, architecture, processing logic, tests, dependencies, and support procedures
- Fluency in French or English
- French-English bilingualism is an asset
- English proficiency is required for collaboration with Canadian or global leadership outside Québec
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Careful, disciplined approach to development, testing, documentation, and change management
- Able to work independently and take ownership of automated production processes
- Ability to turn operational needs into straightforward, reusable, maintainable technical solutions
- Collaborative approach with strong communication skills
