GCP Cloud Engineer

Lead secure Google Cloud architecture for federal health programs. Oversee cloud operations, migrations, infrastructure, and compliance across GCP environments.

Description

  • Engineer and maintain GCP environments spanning Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Run, Red Hat Linux, and Windows virtual machines.
  • Develop reusable Terraform modules that apply secure, consistent configurations.
  • Create and diagnose CI/CD pipelines supporting automated testing and deployments.
  • Manage IAM roles and policies, including Workload Identity Federation for keyless external authentication.
  • Implement GCP monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities for operational visibility.
  • Resolve problems involving infrastructure, networking, GKE, and delivery pipelines.
  • Prepare architecture diagrams, runbooks, standard operating procedures, and compliance documentation.
  • Design and oversee secure Google Cloud architectures for a federal healthcare customer.
  • Partner with system administrators, application teams, and project teams to run, modernize, and migrate cloud applications.
  • Establish the technical direction for new workloads.
  • Contribute to a team responsible for cloud operations and migration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or 10 additional years of relevant experience in place of a degree.
  • At least six years configuring and using GCP operational tools to meet service-level, performance, and compliance objectives.
  • At least three years of hands-on GCP engineering, including advanced troubleshooting across infrastructure, networking, GKE, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Practical experience with Compute Engine on Red Hat Linux and Windows, GKE, Cloud Run for Python services, and GCP IAM, including Workload Identity Federation.
  • Strong Terraform skills, including reusable modules, plus experience with CI/CD tools such as Cloud Build or GitHub Actions.
  • Experience in federal compliance environments and in creating architecture diagrams, runbooks, SOPs, and compliance documentation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust background investigation.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must have lived physically in the United States for at least three years to satisfy background investigation requirements.
