Experienced Back-End Developer (Java/AWS) - Belgium Hybrid

Lead Java and AWS backend development for QbD Group’s IFUcare SaaS platform for electronic medical-device instructions. Build secure APIs, data layers, integrations, and scalable architecture for customers across Europe.

Description

  • Own backend development for the IFUcare SaaS platform delivering electronic medical-device Instructions for Use
  • Develop and maintain APIs, data layers, and business integrations
  • Evolve the platform architecture as the product grows
  • Contribute to both a newly developed platform and an established codebase
  • Work long term with frontend and backend developers
  • Collaborate with DevOps and external customer teams
  • Create secure, reliable solutions on AWS
  • Make architectural decisions while maintaining code quality and performance
  • Use AI coding tools as assistance and review their generated code
  • Support a medical-device compliance platform used by customers in multiple countries

Requirements

  • Bring 6–7 or more years of backend development experience, preferably in SaaS
  • Demonstrate deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot
  • Design and consume REST APIs effectively
  • Work confidently with relational databases such as MySQL
  • Prioritize thorough testing and high code quality
  • Take ownership of new codebases, contribute to existing systems, and make architectural decisions
  • Understand AWS, CI/CD, and containerized development environments
  • Have hands-on experience with Docker and Jenkins
  • Use AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor
  • Design software architecture and critically review AI-generated code
  • Communicate fluently in English
  • Attend regular meetings with the local team at a QbD office in Belgium or Spain
  • Work effectively with legacy code
  • Experience in regulated industries or EU MDR/eIFU is welcome but not required
