Energy Auditor I - Hybrid

Conduct virtual building assessments for Franklin Energy’s utility energy-efficiency programs. Identify savings opportunities, explain rebates, and recommend energy-saving equipment to customers.

Description

  • Analyze online building data, energy use, customer information, and property images before scheduled appointments
  • Assess preliminary opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce energy costs
  • Conduct virtual energy audits for utility customers by phone, text, or video chat
  • Discuss energy usage with customers and establish rapport remotely
  • Perform virtual property walk-through assessments
  • Identify natural gas and electric savings opportunities while encouraging energy-efficient behavior
  • Teach end users about energy-efficiency practices
  • Explain assessment results, available rebates, and related information to building owners
  • Guide customers through installing energy-saving products, including lighting, smart thermostats, and water-saving devices
  • Prepare and deliver audit reports containing energy analyses and efficiency recommendations
  • Recommend improvements to program operations and service delivery
  • Support initiatives that improve quality, customer satisfaction, and productivity
  • Complete and maintain required forms, records, and documentation
  • Comply with applicable safety requirements, work rules, regulations, and procedures
  • Provide field support as needed

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience with residential construction, heating and air-conditioning installation, sales or service, or related energy-efficiency credentials
  • Relevant credentials may include Advanced Home Energy Professional, Building Analyst, Envelope Professional, Residential Building Envelope Whole House Air Leakage Controller Installer, heating and cooling or heat-pump qualifications, air-sealing and insulation experience, or BPI Fundamentals certification or higher
  • At least two years of related work experience
  • One to two years of experience in marketing, community organizing, education, customer service, or a related area; virtual experience is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to work effectively with customers and colleagues in a virtual setting
  • Solid research and organizational skills
  • Ability to explain complex topics to diverse audiences remotely
  • Ability to manage varied responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfort with technology
  • Strong data-entry skills using tracking systems and databases
  • Detail-oriented, organized, self-directed, and able to prioritize work
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Basic knowledge of technical and cost-savings analysis and reporting
  • Basic familiarity with energy-modeling software
  • Basic knowledge of energy-conservation principles and methods
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel less than 10% of the time
