Embedded Systems and Software Engineering Intern - Chantilly, VA

Undergraduate internship developing Python, Java, and C software for simulated space and ground systems at The Aerospace Corporation. The work supports defense, civil, and commercial space programs.

Description

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of software for a simulated space system
  • Build prototype software in Python, Java, and C for simulated space and ground components
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team on research and technical programs involving academic partners
  • Use established methods and procedures to complete assigned scientific and engineering work
  • Complete training and receive guidance from experienced mentors

Requirements

  • Be enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Be available to work full-time for at least 10 weeks outside the academic term and return to full-time degree study after the internship
  • Have experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Have programming experience in Python, C, C++, or Java
  • Be able to work with common cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure
  • Be able to obtain and retain a U.S. Government security clearance
  • Be a U.S. citizen to qualify for a security clearance
  • Provide academic transcripts
  • Have a GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Hold an active TS/SCI clearance
  • Have prior experience with agile software development
