Electrical Engineering Manager Hybrid Niwot Colorado

Lead electrical engineering teams developing laser, photodetection, and low-noise systems while guiding commercialization of contamination-monitoring instruments for semiconductor and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Description

  • Lead electrical engineers and designers from early research and concept development through product launch.
  • Plan, prototype, develop, and document electrical designs for contamination-monitoring instruments.
  • Partner with functional managers, project managers, and business leaders within a matrixed, stage-gate product development environment.
  • Direct the prioritization, specification, design, development, and implementation of electrical architectures and solutions.
  • Recruit, onboard, coach, mentor, assess, and manage the performance of the electrical design team.
  • Establish core competencies, functional strategy, skills development, succession plans, and headcount needs.
  • Promote development reuse and maintain consistent technical and architectural direction across projects.
  • Own electrical development processes, standards, and tools while assessing technologies and improving workflows.
  • Maintain DFMEA, risk analysis, design rigor, ISO Quality Management System compliance, and high-quality technical deliverables.
  • Build and maintain integrated program schedules while balancing cost, timing, and performance.
  • Serve as the electrical engineering subject-matter expert, advising and developing engineers.
  • Advance Agile/Scrum, tiered daily management, lean problem-solving, and AI-enabled engineering practices.
  • Build collaboration, teamwork, trust, urgency, and customer focus, including involvement in Voice of Customer activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification, with strong expertise designing electrical systems for electromechanical products controlled by embedded software.
  • At least 10 years of experience developing complex electrical and electromechanical designs for research and new-product development.
  • At least 5 years of experience in functional management or technical leadership.
  • Working knowledge of schematic-capture and PCB-layout CAD tools, such as Siemens Xpedition/PADS or Altium, plus SPICE-based circuit simulation and modeling.
  • Strong understanding of hardware configuration management and design-release processes.
  • Hands-on experience using laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, signal generators, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Familiarity with ISO, CE, ETL, IEC 61010, EMC, and other international standards and requirements.
  • Technology project-management experience, including risk mitigation and tradeoffs among cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Successful product-lifecycle experience and working knowledge of stage-gate and Agile development methods.
  • Systematic problem-solving ability paired with strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Independent, proactive work style with the ability to provide technical expertise and leadership across multiple projects.
  • Strong oral, written, and technical communication skills.
  • Preferred qualifications include photonics and high-sensitivity detection experience, an MS in Electrical Engineering, particle counting or analytical instrumentation expertise, PMP certification, Six Sigma or DFSS, failure-analysis methods, Lean or continuous-improvement experience, and leadership of distributed teams or third-party development partners.
