Data Engineer – Data Platform (Remote in Germany)

Build scalable data pipelines and AWS-based platform capabilities for INTERSPORT’s e-commerce operations. Your work will support enterprise-wide analytics, reporting, and data-informed decisions.

Description

  • Create, implement, and refine scalable pipelines that deliver dependable, secure data flows
  • Shape and transform data using modern practices for version control, historization, and documentation
  • Build, run, and maintain ETL and ELT workflows alongside orchestrated pipeline processes
  • Apply contemporary cloud technologies, preferably AWS, while helping grow the data platform
  • Manage Infrastructure as Code, ideally with Pulumi or Terraform, to support a resilient and scalable platform
  • Evaluate and improve data processes for speed, scalability, reliability, and quality
  • Partner with Data Scientists, analysts, product teams, and developers to advance data-informed decisions
  • Help evolve data engineering standards and modernize the business intelligence and data environment
  • Establish an organization-wide data foundation that serves as the trusted source for analytics and reporting

Requirements

  • Bring several years of practical data engineering experience, preferably building and operating production cloud data platforms
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in SQL and Python
  • Have worked with modern data stack tools such as Snowflake, dbt, Prefect or Airflow, BigQuery, or equivalent technologies
  • Understand ETL and ELT development, data modeling, and the construction of dependable data pipelines
  • Have experience with AWS or a comparable cloud provider
  • Bring initial Infrastructure as Code experience, ideally with Pulumi or Terraform
  • Think analytically and explain complex technical subjects clearly
  • Work independently with a structured, pragmatic, and solution-focused approach
  • Be comfortable in an agile team environment and committed to ongoing improvement
  • Have German language skills at B2 level or higher and fluent English
  • Live in Germany
  • Experience in e-commerce or marketplace and platform business models is advantageous
  • Familiarity with BI platforms such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI is advantageous
  • Experience with event streaming or distributed data systems, including Kafka or Spark, is advantageous
  • Knowledge of data quality, governance, and monitoring practices is advantageous
  • Experience working with cross-functional product teams is advantageous
