Contract Controller, Real Estate — New York Hybrid
Lead financial close, brand billing, and ASC 842 lease accounting for a retail-as-a-service company. Manage a lean accounting team during maternity-leave coverage.
Description
- Own the month-end close, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
- Manage monthly brand billing and prepare statements for brands and stores using prior-month performance data
- Oversee ASC 842 lease accounting for nearly 100 leases
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash operations, and cash flow analysis
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, tax activities, and internal controls
- Supervise and review the work of a senior accountant
- Provide maternity-leave coverage for a retail-as-a-service company
Requirements
- At least eight years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior management experience; experience leading three or more people is preferred
- Strong command of GAAP, including month-end and year-end close processes
- Demonstrated lease accounting experience
- Experience using NetSuite
- Advanced Excel proficiency, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
- Background working in a startup or small-company environment
- Hands-on experience across the full financial close process
- Applicants must be local to the role's location
