Computational Imaging Engineer — Boulder, CO (Onsite)

Develop ISP pipelines and sensor algorithms for Snap’s AR glasses. Partner with optics, computer vision, and compute teams to advance next-generation imaging systems.

Description

  • Build ISP pipelines for next-generation computational imaging platforms
  • Coordinate work across optics, sensors, computer vision, and compute teams
  • Guide architecture decisions and align stakeholders on critical trade-offs
  • Create test methods and characterization plans for camera ISP performance
  • Investigate sensor performance issues and implement corrective actions
  • Travel up to 15%

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in optics, physics, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of computational imaging experience applied to computer vision
  • Experience applying computational imaging, computer vision, and machine learning to image processing
  • Experience developing and optimizing ISP and machine learning algorithms for camera products
  • Experience with non-traditional image sensors, including single-photon detectors such as SPADs, jots, and SiPMs, as well as event and neuromorphic sensors
  • Understanding of optics and camera systems used for imaging, depth mapping, and biometric sensing
  • Knowledge of image quality assessment and ISP pipelines
  • Software development and data analysis experience with C++, MATLAB, Python, or similar tools
  • Ability to use AI models to accelerate engineering workflows and software development
  • Ability to work independently while managing internal and external resources
  • Ability to evaluate system-level effects and trade-offs on highly constrained platforms
  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work across multiple deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment with engineering teams, vendors, suppliers, and external resource managers
  • Preferred: PhD or master’s degree in optics, physics, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field
  • Preferred: At least 4 years of experience designing robust computer vision algorithms for consumer electronics platforms
  • Experience developing camera systems for AR/VR, wearable, or mobile products
  • Experience building end-to-end camera ISP pipelines for edge or distributed compute platforms
  • Experience developing event-based processing systems
  • Experience with depth mapping and direct time-of-flight (dTOF) depth measurement systems
  • Experience designing algorithms for pixel- and sensor-level logic
