Communications and Events Associate - Washington, DC (Hybrid)

Support communications and event operations for Georgetown University’s O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law. The role covers content, outreach, databases, event coordination, and communications performance tracking.

Description

  • Join the O’Neill Institute’s core team.
  • Assist with planning and delivering events.
  • Develop and distribute content across multiple platforms.
  • Conduct outreach to strengthen brand awareness.
  • Provide broad communications support aligned with the organization’s mission and objectives.
  • Maintain contact and publication databases.
  • Monitor incoming media requests.
  • Measure communications KPIs.
  • Plan, coordinate, promote, and deliver social events, conferences, meetings, and other special events.
  • Work with colleagues across the Institute’s centers to connect people, ideas, and initiatives.
  • Contribute to communications and events that advance the Institute’s work.
  • Manage communications and marketing activities, expenses, event delivery, planning, and technical support.
  • Report to the Managing Director and collaborate daily with O’Neill Institute staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts degree.
  • Three to five years of professional experience in coordination, management, communications, journalism, marketing, and/or events.
  • Proven leadership and collegiality.
  • Positive, approachable personality.
  • Collaborative mindset with strong relationship-building skills at every organizational level.
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational ability.
  • Creative approach to thinking and problem-solving.
  • Self-directed and able to work with limited supervision.
  • Able to manage multiple competing priorities effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time-management skills.
  • Experience producing social media and newsletter content.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Spanish proficiency is a plus.
  • Experience using Slack.
  • Experience using WordPress.
  • Experience with marketing platforms such as Canva, Sendible, and Mailchimp.
