Civil and Structural Project Engineer

Investigate building failures across residential, commercial, and industrial properties as a civil and structural engineer with Envista Forensics near Orlando. Conduct field inspections, assess causes, and prepare client reports and repair recommendations.

Description

  • Investigate failures, damage, and defects in civil and structural systems at residential, commercial, and industrial properties
  • Assess building system failures, determine their causes, evaluate construction quality, and review design and maintenance practices
  • Conduct site investigations, lead examinations with multiple parties, and document property damage
  • Research failure mechanisms and applicable code requirements
  • Recommend repairs or remediation
  • Write client reports and letters explaining the origin and cause of damage
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams on large and complex assignments
  • Work from home between field assignments; spend approximately 40% of the time on inspections and investigations

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in civil or structural engineering, or a related discipline
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; Engineer in Training (EIT) candidates may be considered
  • Preferred: 5–7 years of design experience across residential, commercial, and industrial settings
  • Field experience is beneficial
  • Travel of 25–30% or more
  • Able to work in inclement weather and varied environmental conditions
  • Able to work at heights, including on roofs or scaffolding, with the agility and balance required and without acrophobia
  • Able to manage multiple projects and prioritize work against strict deadlines
