Business Data Analyst - Security Benefit (Hybrid)

Support Security Benefit’s retirement, annuity, and investment operations through enterprise data analysis. Build dashboards, query business data, and help maintain data quality across organizational domains.

Description

  • Analyze business and data requirements for assigned initiatives
  • Collect stakeholder needs, map data flows, and prepare functional and data specifications
  • Create and maintain reports, dashboards, and analytical data summaries
  • Use SQL and other query tools to extract, validate, and examine enterprise data
  • Profile datasets to evaluate their fitness for intended uses
  • Connect business stakeholders with technical teams throughout delivery
  • Convert business needs into data specifications while explaining constraints and viable solutions
  • Evaluate data quality, investigate anomalies, and coordinate corrective work with Data Engineering
  • Produce data mappings, traceability matrices, and source-to-target specifications
  • Support testing by preparing test cases, executing system and UAT tests, recording defects, and compiling testing summary reports
  • Keep program documentation aligned with corporate data governance requirements
  • Take part in data stewardship activities
  • Help improve analytical processes, templates, and standards continuously

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, business administration, computer science, information systems, or a related discipline
  • Two to four years of experience in business data analysis, reporting, or a comparable analytical position
  • Strong command of data querying tools such as SQL and Snowflake, including joins, aggregations, and data profiling
  • Background creating reports and dashboards in Power BI, Tableau, or a comparable platform
  • Working knowledge of data warehouses and ELT architecture patterns
  • Experience in a cloud data platform environment is preferred
  • Experience eliciting and documenting business requirements through data-flow diagrams, functional specifications, and source-to-target mappings
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to investigate data problems and explain conclusions clearly
  • Experience in retirement services, annuities, mutual funds, or financial services is preferred
