Backend Software Engineer, Product at Vasco (Montreal Hybrid)

Build backend systems for Vasco’s AI revenue agents, including context graphs, metric engines, and infrastructure. Ship and operate reliable customer-facing products that handle revenue data.

Description

  • Design, build, and deliver Vasco’s backend systems, including the context graph and metric engine
  • Take ownership of complete workstreams, including frontend and data visualization when needed
  • Develop solutions with designers, engineers, and go-to-market teammates through the Shape Up process
  • Convert product intent and design decisions into implementation context for Claude
  • Instrument releases and track product adoption with the team
  • Create services that securely process customer revenue data
  • Own system infrastructure and security with DevOps guidance and tooling
  • Contribute to backend harnesses, blueprints, and AI-native engineering practices
  • Manage and resolve production incidents with prompt, transparent communication
  • Partner with product design, engineering, DevOps, Platform, Data, and Agent teams while reporting to the CTO

Requirements

  • At least four years of experience building systems used by customers
  • Experience designing, developing, and operating backend services in production
  • Ability to architect complete systems while considering a feature’s broader context
  • Comfort working on infrastructure products centered on substantial data
  • Experience with GCP, BigQuery, Node.js, TypeScript, Terraform, or comparable technologies on other cloud platforms is preferred
  • Ability to use AI coding tools as a central part of development while taking ownership of and defending delivered work
  • Ability to create checks that enable evidence-based releases
  • Experience making high-stakes decisions with meaningful consequences for errors
  • Ability to communicate technical trade-offs as clear business impact to any audience
  • Collaborative working style and active contribution to team culture
  • Successful completion of a background check before starting
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada
