Assistant Controller - Seattle, WA

Lead close, budgeting, cash management, reporting, and accounting compliance for JLL’s client real estate portfolio. Supervise finance staff while supporting GAAP, lease accounting, and client-policy requirements.

Description

  • Direct recurring financial close activities and review GAAP reporting deliverables
  • Translate client accounting requirements for property and finance teams
  • Evaluate leases for compliance with GAAP and client-specific accounting policies
  • Uphold accounting controls in line with GAAP, JLL standards, and client policies
  • Lead twice-yearly client budgeting and periodic forecast updates
  • Oversee cash management activities and procedures
  • Manage the accounts payable process and compliant invoice payments
  • Advise property teams and address accounting and client inquiries
  • Stay current on client contract terms and Main Services Agreements
  • Manage annual and recurring purchase orders for contracted services
  • Support quarterly business reviews and assess financial analyses
  • Lead performance management, succession planning, development, and training for assigned finance staff
  • Coordinate quarterly KPI reporting and analysis, including Opex and Capex budget accuracy
  • Handle special reporting requests and assigned projects
  • Manage accounts receivable targets and investigate balances more than 30 days overdue
  • Implement improvements to accounting and finance processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA certification preferred
  • Five to ten years of relevant accounting experience required
  • Two to three years in a controller or supervisory position strongly preferred
  • Experience in property management or real estate accounting preferred
  • Public accounting background preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem-solving capability
  • Proficiency with Excel and accounting systems
  • Experience with property management accounting platforms such as MRI or Yardi preferred
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
