AI Safety Red Teamer

Mercor is seeking an AI Safety Red Teamer to probe frontier AI systems through adversarial testing for AI training projects. The role focuses on crafting challenging prompts and recording vulnerabilities in high-risk subject areas.

Description

  • Create adversarial prompts that challenge frontier AI models
  • Detect jailbreaks, unsafe behavior, hallucinations, and policy violations
  • Assess model resilience across misinformation, cybersecurity, biosecurity, fraud, political content, and other sensitive areas
  • Record discovered vulnerabilities and support safety benchmarks and red-teaming reports
  • Partner with AI researchers to strengthen model alignment, robustness, and safety
  • Contribute to projects that train and improve AI systems

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, cybersecurity, journalism, communications, psychology, biology, chemistry, public policy, or a related field
  • At least five years of professional experience in AI safety, AI red teaming, trust and safety, cybersecurity, investigative journalism, life sciences, or a related area
  • Strong analytical reasoning, prompt-engineering, and written communication abilities
  • Background creating adversarial prompts or assessing frontier AI systems
  • Residence in one of the eligible listed locations
  • H-1B and STEM OPT candidates are not supported
