Actuarial Manager, Large Accounts Pricing

Lead pricing for Aviva Canada’s complex commercial insurance accounts exceeding $2M. Oversee portfolio analysis, rate recommendations, and actuarial team development.

Description

  • Lead indication analysis to assess rate adequacy for individual accounts
  • Review high-value, complex portfolios and recommend appropriate rates
  • Create alternative pricing approaches tailored to the characteristics of large accounts
  • Assess and quantify credit risk for accounts with substantial retentions
  • Partner with senior leaders, underwriters, and brokers to deliver effective pricing solutions
  • Build and implement a roadmap to improve analytical sophistication, efficiency, and capability
  • Monitor portfolio performance and provide actionable pricing insights
  • Coach and mentor senior and junior analysts, as well as co-op students
  • Model Aviva’s values while fostering a positive, high-performing workplace
  • Support pricing and profitability for commercial accounts with premiums above $2M or complex structures
  • Deliver actuarial analysis across Property, Casualty, and Auto products

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or another quantitative discipline; equivalent experience may also be considered
  • ACAS/ACIA or FCAS/FCIA designation is preferred
  • At least five years of property and casualty actuarial experience
  • At least three years of commercial pricing experience
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present analytical findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, multitask effectively, and prioritize competing demands
  • Experience with SAS, VBA, Python, R, or comparable analytical tools is an advantage
