Accountant – Mexico City (Hybrid)

Description

  • Maintain accounting records for multiple local entities in line with group policies and applicable local GAAP requirements.
  • Coordinate with outsourced accounting and tax providers to support accurate, timely filings and statutory compliance.
  • Own daily and monthly cash and bank reconciliations, ensuring transactions are correctly matched and recorded in NetSuite.
  • Manage employee-related accounts, including receivables, advances, and expense reimbursements.
  • Administer the Yokoy expense management system, including expense processing, classification, and general ledger integration.
  • Perform regular NetSuite reconciliations for balance sheet and profit-and-loss accounts to maintain reliable financial data.
  • Record and review transactions such as expense reports, journal entries, deposits, payroll files, revenue recognition, and foreign currency revaluations.
  • Provide financial controller support for smaller international entities, including controls, reconciliations, and month-end close under US GAAP and audit requirements.
  • Support audits by preparing documentation, communicating with auditors, and resolving information requests.
  • Improve accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting quality across assigned entities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Three to five years of accounting or financial control experience, preferably in an international organization.
  • Working knowledge of local accounting and tax rules in Brazil or Mexico, plus strong US GAAP expertise; IFRS knowledge is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Practical experience using expense management platforms; Yokoy experience is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of tax compliance processes and collaboration with external tax advisers.
  • Advanced English proficiency at B2 level or higher, with confidence in written and spoken communication.
  • NetSuite experience is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with accounts payable systems and intercompany accounting processes.
  • Ability to independently manage the complete accounting cycle for small entities, with strong ownership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, careful attention to detail, and effective prioritization in a fast-paced environment.
