Tavsif

  • Guide data-informed decisions for the NPR App.
  • Lead experimentation and advanced mobile product analytics.
  • Write, optimize, and validate complex SQL queries in BigQuery.
  • Transform raw event logs and analyze nested data, cohorts, patterns, and user behavior across app and web platforms.
  • Manage experimentation with Optimizely or similar tools.
  • Develop hypotheses, design A/B tests, run experiments, and turn findings into product recommendations.
  • Provide trend reports and detailed app analyses to product managers, newsroom leaders, and station stakeholders.
  • Create self-service insight tools and train cross-functional partners to use data.
  • Improve scheduled queries, data summaries, and automated pipelines.
  • Investigate tracking anomalies and refine data tools with Data Products.
  • Rank analytical requests by business impact and departmental priorities.
  • Share research tools and findings across NPR and partner stations.
  • Set guidelines, data dictionaries, and technical documentation for app, video, and web metrics.
  • Report to the Senior Manager of Product Audience Insights.

Talablar

  • Bring at least five years of advanced SQL experience, including complex queries, raw event logs, and data warehousing tools such as BigQuery and Dataform.
  • Know how to retrieve, transform, and work with complex data structures, raw data, audience cohorts, and behavioral pattern models.
  • Have at least five years of mobile and web analytics experience with app and digital behavior datasets such as Google Firebase and GA4.
  • Have at least two years of experimentation design experience, including A/B and multivariate testing with enterprise tools such as Optimizely.
  • Demonstrate expert proficiency with Looker, Tableau, Excel, and Google Sheets.
  • Be experienced in turning complex SQL outputs into clear visual narratives and advanced spreadsheet models.
  • Have trained partners on data tools, built self-service frameworks, and mentored peers in SQL and data hygiene practices.
  • Bring strong SQL skills for unnesting arrays, parsing JSON and struct fields, and building scalable datasets from raw digital event data.
  • Understand A/B test design, statistical significance testing, hypothesis development, and post-test behavioral analysis.
  • Provide technical mentorship through SQL reviews, documentation, and training.
  • Independently manage changing priorities, assess business impact, and take complex projects from start to finish.
  • Experience in digital news, public broadcasting, or media streaming is preferred.
  • Proficiency in statistical modeling with R or Python is preferred.
  • Experience collaborating across functions is preferred.
