Director of Legal, Product and Regulatory – Canada Remote

Lead legal strategy for KOHO’s Canadian fintech products and regulated-bank operations. Advise on banking regulation, consumer protection, product launches, and compliant business growth.

Tavsif

  • Own legal guidance for product development and regulatory strategy across KOHO Tech and KOHO Bank
  • Deliver practical regulatory counsel to stakeholders across both organizations
  • Advise on the creation and rollout of new financial products and features
  • Surface regulatory exposure early and help teams develop compliant approaches
  • Help establish and put into operation a regulated bank
  • Support relationships with OSFI, FCAC, the Bank of Canada, and other regulators
  • Counsel Marketing and Growth on compliant financial-services and consumer-protection initiatives
  • Advise customer-facing teams on complaints, communications, and fairness obligations
  • Develop legal and regulatory processes that can scale with the business
  • Help maintain and improve Legal’s knowledge-management practices
  • Coach and develop members of the Legal team
  • Represent Legal in cross-functional and executive leadership discussions

Talablar

  • At least 10 years of post-call legal experience in Canada, including substantial in-house practice
  • Hands-on experience advising on the introduction of retail banking products
  • Strong background in financial-services regulation, banking law, and consumer-protection frameworks
  • Confidence working independently and providing commercially practical advice to senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success leading complex legal or regulatory programs with limited supervision
  • Experience spanning a large bank and a smaller technology startup or fintech is an asset
  • Direct experience working with regulators is an asset
  • Lobbying or government-relations experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of the RPAA and Financial Consumer Protection Framework is an asset
  • Bank-based AML advisory experience is an asset
  • Experience putting privacy legislation into practice is an asset
  • Background mentoring or managing junior legal counsel is an asset
  • French fluency is an asset
  • Eligible to work legally in Canada and called to a Canadian bar association.
