Engineering Manager, Global Platform

Descriere

  • Lead engineering for a product team in partnership with the Director of Product.
  • Manage engineering capacity, sprint planning, execution quality, and delivery cadence.
  • Guide engineers’ performance, daily work, goals, feedback, and development plans.
  • Hold regular one-to-ones and address performance concerns directly.
  • Plan sprint or cycle capacity, then break work into estimated milestones.
  • Monitor delivery and flag risks or delays early.
  • Unblock engineers and serve as their main escalation point.
  • Contribute code consistently while leading the team.
  • Set and uphold standards for test coverage, pull request quality, and deployment practices.
  • Keep stakeholders informed on delivery and coordinate communication across engineering.
  • Work with the Product Design Manager to align priorities, sequencing, scope, and delivery trade-offs.
  • Raise decisions and resourcing needs beyond the team with the PGM.
  • Give engineers access to customer feedback to support rapid iteration.
  • Adjust planning, estimation, and sequencing for AI-assisted and agent-based engineering.
  • Partner with the Tech Lead on technical quality, architecture, and engineering standards.
  • Help develop engineering leadership practices, frameworks, and career ladders as the organisation grows.
  • Contribute to Sitemate’s Global Platform, including Flowsite, the MCP server and OpenAPI, billing and accounts, user management, and productivity features.

Cerințe

  • Experience managing or leading engineers, with direct reports or clearly equivalent responsibility.
  • Strong delivery management skills across capacity planning, work breakdown, estimation, progress tracking, and early risk escalation.
  • Current hands-on coding skills and knowledge of software engineering best practices.
  • Practical experience with JavaScript or TypeScript, Node.js, Angular or React, and MongoDB.
  • A record of helping engineers grow through feedback, goal setting, and career development.
  • Willingness to address underperformance directly and constructively.
  • Comfort sharing accountability with product counterparts.
  • Experience in a scale-up or high-growth product environment is an advantage.
  • Experience managing distributed or multi-time-zone teams is an advantage.
  • Experience improving engineering processes such as sprint cadence, releases, or on-call is an advantage.
  • Practical experience with AI-assisted development workflows is an advantage.
  • Experience using Jira or an equivalent planning and tracking tool.
  • Experience with Confluence or an equivalent documentation practice.
  • Experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar products.
  • AWS experience is a bonus.
  • Experience with observability tools such as Clickstack, Datadog, Bugsnag, or Sentry is a bonus.
  • If based in Melbourne, willingness to work from the office at least two days per week.
  • Full permanent work rights in Australia, or relevant visa status and sponsorship information.
