Senior Director of Digital Experience Design
Lead design across Slate Auto’s web, mobile, e-commerce, and in-vehicle experiences. Build the design system and guide the product design organization as the company develops customizable vehicles.

- Set the design vision for customer-facing digital experiences across web, mobile, e-commerce, and future channels.
- Turn Slate Auto’s brand and product strategy into cohesive, user-centered design.
- Represent customer needs in roadmap planning, sprint reviews, and executive discussions.
- Maintain design quality from early concepts through production delivery.
- Lead, coach, and develop UI designers, UX designers, and copywriters.
- Hire to address capability needs as the company moves from pre-launch to post-launch.
- Foster a team culture grounded in craft, curiosity, and candid feedback.
- Create career paths and development frameworks for designers.
- Manage and evolve the digital design system for web and native apps.
- Expand version-controlled design files, component libraries, and documentation.
- Refine design workflows within agile product delivery.
- Promote consistent use of Figma, design tokens, and handoff practices.
- Expand UX research through user testing, usability reviews, and data-guided iteration.
- Work with Product and Software leaders on roadmap priorities, requirements, and design-engineering tradeoffs.
- Coordinate with brand, marketing, and vehicle design teams.
- Present design perspectives in executive and board-level discussions.

- Bring at least 15 years of product, UX, or UI design experience focused on high-volume consumer or customer experiences.
- Have at least 7 years in people leadership, including managing managers or team leads.
- Show end-to-end ownership of complex digital products in a portfolio, covering strategy, research, interaction and visual design, and delivery.
- Have deep experience creating and maintaining design systems with atomic design principles, including tokens, components, documentation, and governance.
- Demonstrate effective product and engineering partnership, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and technical tradeoff discussions.
- Have designed for multiple surfaces, such as responsive or adaptive websites, native iOS or Android apps, or embedded vehicle interfaces.
- Be highly proficient with Figma and current prototyping workflows.
- Have used generative AI in an agile production setting.
- Have established design tooling standards across a team.
- Have led design optimization using A/B and multivariate testing.
- Bring strong UX research instincts.
- Communicate clearly and effectively.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Product Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or have equivalent professional experience.
- Be permanently authorized to work in the United States.
- Preferred: experience in growth design or interaction design.
- Preferred: experience leading design for a new or growing e-commerce business or digital marketplace.
- Preferred: working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and component-based front-end frameworks such as MUI or Tailwind.
- Preferred: a master’s degree in HCI, Interaction Design, or a related field.
- Preferred: experience growing a design team from an early stage through a major product launch.
